Unhappy Haircut

I cut Handsome's hair again yesterday. It was getting out of hand, and with the different degrees of curliness on his head, it needs to stay relatively short.

Previous encounters with the clippers have been just fine, but yesterday was not just fine. Handsome screamed the whole time. No idea why it terrified him this time. He was dancing the music until he saw the dreaded box. The box that was opened to reveal the clippers. He cried until DH decided he needed to come save Handsome. I finished the haircut with a few breaks in the middle to let Handsome calm down a bit. He wanted to hold the clippers a few times, but that didn't seem to ease the trepidation. Poor child.

He looks so handsome now though. He always looks older when I cut his hair.

New teeth, Scrapbooking, Handsome

Random stuff because I never have time to blog anymore.

Handsome now has two new teeth bringing the grand total to 10. Beautiful teeth - minus the chipped front tooth which I still have no idea how it happened - and stinky breath. We really need to stop feeding him food with garlic in it.

I finally started my scrapbook! I grappled my fears and now have nine pages done!! Yay!! Now that's only up to the time he was a month old, so I have quite a ways to go, but it's a start! And this one looks SOO much better than last year's already!

And yesterday I had to go buy new sleepers for Handsome. He has grown out of his 12 month clothes so I had to buy 18 month clothes. I'm so proud of him for growing. And the lady checking us out literally said when we were leaving, "Bye bye Handsome!" Seriously!! I was walking away and I kinda paused for a minute kinda taken aback. I was wondering how in the world she knew his nickname. It did actually take me a little bit to realize she didn't actually know what I called him and it was merely a common nickname for kids. Yes, sometimes I'm slow.

Oh, and I cut Handsome's hair even shorter last night. DH says it's uneven though so I'm going to redo it tonight.

Haircut!

I cut Handsome's hair today! His hair grows SOO fast. Previously I had cut it with scissors but this time I had clippers! I actually bought them a couple months ago to cut the dog's hair, but I cleaned them and they work just fine. I used the biggest guard so that he didn't end up bald. DH still thinks I didn't cut it short enough, but he has to have some curls right? Well, I think he does. I'm assuming he's going to get to an age where he wants to cut all the curls out, so I'm taking advantage of the ability to leave curls while I can. And he looks so cute with his short curls! And since I used the clippers it is so much cleaner looking than when I normally cut it. I LOVE clippers! He didn't seem to care about it either. I put him in his highchair with a toy and some goldfish. I turned the clippers on where he could see them and then put it on my arm so he could see it wasn't going to hurt him. Then I put it on his arm so that he could feel the vibration and I could see his reaction before putting it on his head. He didn't seem to care about it. He was just curious. Once he was ok, I started cutting his hair. He did perfectly.

I bathed him afterward and the tub is now full of hair. I'll have to clean that... later.

Sleep! Haircut.

Handsome slept straight from 8pm to 5:30am!! YAY!!! Unfortunately I couldn't fall asleep until just after midnight, so I only got about 5 hours of sleep, but it was consecutive hours and it was glorious. I also got DH to grab his iPod from downstairs so I could play my Enya to help me get to sleep. He hates listening to music at night, but it helps me sleep so much. I remember I asked my parents for a radio around the time I was in the first grade and ever since then music has helped me to sleep at night. It's just so peaceful. It's like falling asleep in a meditation state. Glorious.

I cut Handsome's hair this past weekend. He still has a little bit of his soft spot left, so I don't trust some random person cutting his hair. He would be all upset that there was a new person, that I couldn't hold him, and adding scissors to that just doesn't sound like a good idea to me. His little fro was getting a little out of hand though, so I felt I had to do something to tame it.

So I sat him down in the sink so that he could play with the faucet and the mirror. I wet his hair with his detangler and used the scissors that came with a manicure set that someone gave us. Yes, they were supposed to be for nails, but they had a round tip so that in case he did start to whip his head around I couldn't poke anything. They cut really well. I probably cut about 3/4 in. off the top of his head. I didn't have the comb with me, so I finished cutting the following day when I could attempt to make it even. With curly hair I find that it's hard to make each strand evenly cut, but it's also hard to tell when it is not evenly cut. So I win. :) The hair cutting went really well because he didn't seem to care. He was quite content looking at the faucet and occasionally trying to grab himself in the mirror. So now he still has a fro, but it is a tamed fro. His hair is also growing back in the backs and sides of his head so the fro is about to multiply.

I've been meaning to take pictures, but in order to do that I have to put the detangler in it to style it and then I have to have enough light in my house to take the pictures. And time. Always short on time.

Talking about time, I need to get to work.

Molting

I'm molting, molting.... My hair has been shedding for the past month or so. They say it's because of the hormones after having a baby and I'm going to take their word for it. Let me tell you though, that if I just saved about three days worth of the hair that falls out of my head I could make a bald man very happy with my donations. It's thick and long (get your minds out of the dirt) so they could make a very nice wig. I don't know how I'm going to have any hair left after all of this. It ends up everywhere - shower, hairbrush, carpet, office floor, clothes, car, desk. I feel bad for my poor husband because my hair is falling out at an alarming rate and Handsome is losing his as well, so everywhere DH goes there is hair.
